I don’t need to go into all the reasons why zombies are awesome. I shouldn’t have to. The fact that zombies are awesome is a fact of nature. Like how kittens are cute and tequila after midnight is a bad idea. It’s just a given. Zombies are awesome. Accept it.
You know what else is awesome? Bar crawls. Especially theme bar crawls. The last theme bar crawl I went on was a wedding theme. We all dressed up as if we had just come from a “dry” wedding, and went around the south side of Bethlehem loudly protesting how boring the wedding would be. We also “borrowed” small items from each bar as a gift for the bride and groom. I do not recommend that last part as it is a) illegal and b) really hard to unscrew signs off the walls when you’re on your 6th bar of the evening.
So it stands to reason that I will be attending the 2009 Philadelphia Zombie Pub Crawl. One of the oldest zombie pub crawls in the country (yes, most cities have them), the Philly crawl starts on Easter Sunday at Tattooed Mom’s (530 South Street) with zombie make-up artists, zombie cake, and zombie pre-gaming from 6-8pm. Then zombie hordes will break into groups and stagger their way to other zombie-friendly watering holes along South Street.
Details can be found at the Philly Zombie Crawl website, along with tips on how to come as your very best zombie self. I will personally be showing up as a flapper zombie, because, well, it’s awesome. Come out and show your zombie love! The event itself is free (getting make-up done by the professionals will run you a few bucks and expect to wait in line). You’re also responsible for your own zombie beverages and zombie vittles.
For those who can’t make the zombie crawl, there is also the 3rd Annual Zombie Butt Touch party this weekend. Yes, that’s what I said. For $10 you get in, get some make-up, and get free beer (BYOB encouraged). This is a less formal zombie event than the crawl, so feel free to show up as you are and get made up by some fun-lovin zombie folks. You can find more details on their website or Facebook page.
Both events are 21+, so don’t even try to attend if you’re a youngin. Or at least don’t tell them I sent you. I will most likely be at both events so feel free to come up and say hi. I promise not to try and eat your brains, as long as you promise not to try and eat mine.
